Greg shifted his focus to neurology with a residency at the University of Utah from 1981-84, followed by a fellowship at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston from 1985-86 to study stroke. He returned to Salt Lake and worked as a neurologist at the University of Utah from 1986 to 2000. Greg loved teaching and taught residents at the University of Utah during his years there. For 14 years Greg worked in private practice and at Intermountain Health Care until he retired in 2014. He continued to work as a consultant at LDS and Promise Hospitals until just before his passing.
Greg was married to Linda Budd for 21 years, from 1976 to 1997.

As I read Greg's story ,I lived vicariously....I traveled to his places as a physician .... Boston,Salmon,New York,Philadelphia...I indulged in thoughts about his book interests....his love of the physical outdoors...especially the water when swimming...when I read about his time with the Crow Agency in Montana,I thought about the names of his grand children:Sebastian,Cro and Della....I was at Bryant for a few months...then saw him again at East for those magical years...Greg will continue to be celebrated and missed...
