Richard Davis **

The Pentagon announced that on June 22, 1969 Richard (Rick) L. Davis, age 20, United Sates Army, husband of Mrs. Sharon D. Davis of Eagle, Co. was killed in action in the Vietnam War.

Rick paid the ultimate sacrifice for his country when his "Duster" C131, mobile combat team, supporting the Marines near the DMZ in the Quang Tri Province,

South Vietnam was hit in hostile action by a ground explosive device. Specialist Fourth Class Davis was a Light Air Defense Artillery Crewmember and a member of the C Battery, 1st Battalion, 44th Artillery, 108th ARTY Group, I Field Force.

Davis was awarded the Purple Heart, The Nation Defense Medal, The Republic of Vietnam Service Medal and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.

Rick was born in Ohio and lived many places as his father was also in the military. He was a graduate of East High School, 1966 and lived at Fon Douglas, Utah, He is survived by his wife, parents Elmer and Lena Davis of Colorado and three brothers.

Rick's name is mentioned in Joe Billards Book: Dusternam: Vietnam: Story of the Last Great Gun Fighters concerning the most heavily decorated artillery unit in the history of the United States Army.

Ricks name is on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall on Panel 22W Row 111

Rick was my next door neighbor at Ft. Douglas. Great guy. Always had a smile. If anybody has any more information about him, his family or his wife, I'd love to have it.
