In Memory

Lorane Downs **

"Animal", Lorane Downs Maxwell ("Rainy")

1947 ~ 2014, West Valley City, UT

Lorane passed away at home surrounded by her loved ones. The weeks before her death, she was showered with much love from many family members and friends. Mom's passing came just a month after her diagnosis of brain cancer and has left us all in shock. We find some comfort knowing she is reunited with her mother and father, two brothers, two sisters and other family members. Lorane was born December 27, 1947 in Pocatello, Idaho to Elmer Ned and Blanche Otilia (Nelson) Downs. They later moved to Salt Lake City, UT where she grew up in the Avenues and attended East High School. She had four brothers and four sisters: Melva (Chuck) Daily, William (Glenda) Mitchell, Claudine (Bruce) Williams, Elmer Downs, Helena (Darrell) Waters, Rita (Dennis) Goodfellow, Jerry (Mickie) Downs and Jimmy Downs. She married Dave Richins.  They had a daughter, Tamra. She then married Steve Webb. They had a daughter, Amanda. She later met and fell in love with her soul mate, Thomas Ray Maxwell. They were married 33 years. She worked for Swire Coca Cola where she enjoyed driving the Coke Video Van and working the Coke Ski Cups. Lorane was a sales rep for R. J. Reynolds where she later retired. Mom's life after work was filled with family trips to Laguna Beach, Oregon, Arizona and Lava Hot Springs. She also loved going to see her friends at the Rainbow Casino, spending time on one of her three favorite machines. Mom made many friends throughout her life. All who met her liked her, most who met her, loved her!  Lorane was a mother to two but a second mother to many. She was Gram, Mom, Sister. Aunt Rain, Animal and Rainy, depending on who was around. Mom was survived by her husband, Tom Maxwell; her daughter Tamra Bankhead and Tamra's children, Joey, Travis and Teralynn; her daughter Mandy Webb Sprinkle (Steve) and Mandy's children, Abi, Caden and Mason; 5 great-grandchildren, brothers, sisters, cousins, many nieces and nephews, Aunt June and her close friends. We wish we could name them all. Special thanks to Allison and the girls at USC Cancer Center and CNS Hospice. Her close friends Terry, Kelly, Pat, Ryan, Jerry, John, Chaz, Paulette, Alicia, Michelle, Jessica, Amanda and Mikki who were there at the end.
