Jeff Scharman

Jeff Scharman"Skipper"
The final alarm has sounded! Our beloved husband, father, brother and friend died unexpectedly on June 30, 2003 while on a hike with his family enjoying his daughter's birthday.

Jeff was born on September 10, 1948 in Salt Lake City to Roy W. Scharman and Dee Robertson Scharman. He married his high school sweetheart CeCie Borg on June 22, 1970. They had the opportunity of going through the Salt Lake Temple in September 2002 with their missionary son.

Jeff grew up in Salt Lake City. He graduated from East High, The University of Utah and received his Fire Science Degree from UVSC. He began his career in the fire service as a volunteer with the Salt Lake County Fire Department. He was hired with the first group of firefighters when West Valley became a city on December 15, 1980. He served the citizens of West Valley for 17 years. On June 30, 1997 holding the rank of Battalion Chief he retired from the fire department due to an injury received in the line of duty. He was currently employed as a Public Safety Officer at Snow Bird.

Jeff was the ultimate family man, he and his family spent many hours fishing and hunting. The only time he ever missed one of his children's athletic events was when he couldn't get off work. He was a kind, patient and ever devoted husband. His passing has left a huge void in our lives.

He is survived by his wife and four children, Raegan, Allyson, Tyler, and Elder Colton Scharman who is serving in the Iowa Des Moines Mission; three brothers, Bob (Carol), Dick (Dolores), Russ (Vicky); father-in-law Elden Borg; sister-in-law Sharon (Phil) Sloan. Preceded in death by parents and two brothers Roy Jr. and George.
