Mitzi Jenkins Felton (75) of Ajijic Mexico, North Fork Idaho and Salt Lake City Utah tragically passed away at Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital from a sudden illness on June 26, 2023. Mitzi was born on February 6, 1948 to Dr. and Mrs. Harold C. Jenkins. She was pre-deceased by her daughter, Aimee Ashton and by her husband Stuart Felton. She is survived by her brothers, Harold C. Jenkins, Jr. and John W. Jenkins. She had a close and personal relationship with her nephews and nieces and their extended families.
    Mitzi attended Rowland Hall School, East High School and Westminster College in Salt Lake City Utah and become well known in Park City Utah where she worked at the local library and in the Egyptian Theater coordinating various stage performances.
    Mitzi was incredibly resilient and faced every moment of change in her life with an open mind and spirit of adventure. Setbacks were times to regroup and in no way would she let the status-quo dictate her life. Moving to a ranch in North Fork Idaho with her husband, Mitzi embraced the mountain west and became active in the local community. She served as a volunteer fireman, Director of the Idaho Humane Society and commissioned a bronze statue of the dog that accompanied Lewis and Clark which resides at the Sacajawea Cultural Center in Salmon Idaho. She was a talented fly fisherman, an outstanding horseback rider and won multiple Trap and Skeet Shooting contests throughout the west.
    After her husband’s death, Mitzi moved to the resort community, Ajijic, on Lake Chapala in Mexico where she established permanent residency. True to form, she became integrated into the local community and became a prominent member of the Lake Chapala Golf Club team where she would travel throughout Mexico playing in club golf tournaments. With a friend she also traveled throughout the world with spur of the moment trips to Sweden, Iceland, Cuba and back to the US. She especially enjoyed long walks and spirited Backgammon and Mah Jong games with the family.
    A private family service will be held in Lake Forest Illinois followed by future celebrations of her life in Salt Lake City Utah and Ajijic Mexico. Donations in her name can be sent to the Lake Forest Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Lake Forest, Illinois.
