R. Chris Fox, 64, died in his home on April 5, 2013, of liver failure with his sisters, Robyn and Melanie, in attendance and with the help of Best Home Health and Hospice.

He was the second child of Rulon Boyer Fox and Nedra Beal. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Sept. 9, 1948. He attended Emerson Elementary, Roosevelt Junior High School and graduated from East High School in 1966. He attended the University of Utah for two years.

His sister, Melanie, worked at the Utah Geological Survey while at the University of Utah, and encouraged Chris to apply for a job on a surveying crew there. He got the job and began a career as a land surveyor.  He worked for Uinta Engineering for several years. After he retired, he kept his surveying license current by attending yearly training. He enjoyed reading various surveying magazines on a monthly basis. He also enjoyed reading and investing. He has an extensive library and loved to trade books with friends.

He also enjoyed singing in a band with friends he made during college, and being with friends in Evanston for the past 40 years. He enjoyed being outdoors camping, hiking and skiing. He enjoyed going on trips with his sisters and friends.

He traveled to southern Utah, Canyonlands, San Rafael, Moab, west of Cedar City, Deep Creek Mountains, the Great Salt Lake, Washington, D.C., Samoa, England and Wales, Hawaii twice, Alaska twice, took two cruises to the Caribbean, Guadalajara, Manzacilla, Mexico, Antigua, Honduras, Seattle, Vancouver, Lake Louise, the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone. He worked in the Ashley Mountains, the LaSal Mountains, North California, San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Diego.

He married Lynne Dabling in 1968 in Provo, Utah. They moved to Evanston shortly thereafter, where among other businesses he worked for Uinta Engineering as a surveyor. They divorced in 1987.

He is survived by his two sisters, Melanie Fox Harris of Pleasant Grove, Utah, and Robyn Fox Lamprecht of Lakewood, Colo. He is the uncle to 10 nieces and nephews and 18 grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rulon and Nedra Fox, and a nephew, Gerard Boyer Harris.
